Earlier this year, a new Optically Pumped Magnetometers (OPM-MEG) brain scanner was installed at the Oxford Centre for Human Brain Activity (OHBA), based at our Department of Psychiatry.
The advanced technology will open new avenues for research, including scanning children and dementia patients, and enabling full-body movement studies.
Unlike previous models, the new scanner allows participants to move freely while offering greater accuracy than other wearable systems.
Dr Robert Seymour, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Oxford Centre for Human Brain Activity, explains everything you need to know about the machine.
