Could the New York Mets be linked to Minnesota Twins starter Joe Ryan this offseason? The 29-year-old right-hander was being monitored by a number of teams leading up to the trade deadline, but nothing materialized. Ryan, 29, enjoyed a career year, hurling 171 innings to the tune of a 3.42 ERA and 194 strikeouts. For a Twins team that had a fire sale at the deadline, I don’t think anyone is off limits. Given the multiple years of team control, the Twins would be bound to receive a hefty package for Ryan. In addition, trading Ryan would ultimately bolster the Twins’ farm system, and the team has indicated a rebuild is in the works. The Twins put a huge dent in any chances of competing next season and for the foreseeable future, which prompts the Twins to possibly looking into trading Ryan.
