The National Hockey League officially has a new goal scoring king, as Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin has passed The Great One, Wayne Gretzky’s scoring title, tallying the 895th goal of his NHL career this afternoon as he now stands alone atop the league’s goals scored list! 👑 In his 20-year NHL career all played with the Washington Capitals, Ovechkin has played 78 all-time career games against the Devils where he’s scored 42 goals, equivalent to 21.3% of his career total, tied for the 9th most against any single opponent he’s faced. Ovechkin has recorded two hat tricks against New Jersey, on 2/23/13 & 1/16/20, and also scored the 700th goal of his NHL career against the Devils at The Rock on February 22, 2020 becoming just the 8th player in league history to pass that milestone at the time.
