@sprouts to show you how I store flours, rice and grains in the pantry and keep the bugs away! You can buy all of these pantry items from Sprouts, both in packages and from their bulk section!
1. Flours—If you have the space, store opened packages of flour in the refrigerator. They will last up to one year. If you have no space in the fridge, add a bay leaf to your open packages, seal them as best as possible and store in a cool spot in the fridge. You’ve got up to 4 months for maximum freshness, and the bay leaf will keep the bugs away.
2. Nuts—always best stored in the fridge. Nuts contain oils which are prone to getting rancid quickly. They will stay fresh in the fridge for up to six months and in the pantry for up to three.
3. Rice & grains—can last up to one year in the freezer or fridge but if you don’t have space for that, add the bay leaf, as that will keep the bugs out. Store in the pantry in a cool place.
