For wood cutting boards: never put them in the dishwasher! Wood dries out, so you need to treat them with care…they like moisture. Otherwise they can dry out and crack. After every use, wash with soap and warm water and dry immediately.
To remove stains, rub the wood with salt and lemon for a few minutes, then rinse and dry. This method works really well and makes them smell fresh too!
For extra care: coat your wood board with food-grade mineral oil (I will link the one I use on my stories), rub it in, and let it sit overnight. This adds moisture back to the wood and I do this every few weeks.
For plastic cutting boards: these are dishwasher safe and that’s usually how I clean them, but you can also do it by hand with soap and warm water. When they get stained, the best way to remove the stains is to sprinkle with a little salt, 2 teaspoons baking soda, and juice of 1/2 lemon and rub for...
