HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE TAHINI! Follow
@kalejunkie for more recipes and tips! Tahini is one of my pantry STAPLES and I always have jars on hand…to make—you know—my Life Changing Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookies and every other KJ recipe using tahini 😏. But store-bought gets expensive, and if you want to make it yourself, you absolutely can!
A few notes:
You can use hulled or unhulled sesame seeds, at the end of the day it doesn’t matter! Buy what you can find at the store in the bulk section, it is usually the hulled sesame seeds.
You can toast your sesame seeds on the stovetop before making the tahini if you’d like. I never do that, but it’s an option if you like a toastier taste!
The oil in this recipe is OPTIONAL. It will make the tahini more smooth and liquidy/drippy, which I LOVE. If you omit it, your tahini will be more paste-like. It’s just personal preference.
To make:
2 cups sesame seeds
2 tablespoons oil (I use avocado oil or sesame oil)
Pinch sea salt
