Assistant director Kayla Sessoms , BA ’24, is bringing her love of directing back to the Suffolk campus with Front Porch Arts Collective's "The Mountaintop," a gripping reimagination of events the night before the assassination of the civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The play, written by Katori Hall and directed by Maurice Emmanuel Parent, takes place on April 3, 1968, when, after delivering one of his most memorable speeches, an exhausted King retires to his room at the Lorraine Motel while a storm rages outside.
