"When I visualize collective liberation and sovereignty, it necessarily includes the liberation of gender marginalized peoples. Those most oppressed by colonial capitalism, and resource extraction are often the first ones putting their bodies on the line for the land because they understand that they are inextricably tied to it. Our wellbeing and freedom is contingent upon this reciprocal relationship, and it is this way of life that is directly threatened by major industrial projects. "Land back" should also mean ending abuse and sexualized violence against women, girls, and 2SLGBTQ+.
