Whilst dangerous advertisement and lack of reproductive research disproportionately effects women, the damage from toxic skin"care" products, beauty standards, etc, effects everyone. "When we wash bodies each day, the products we applied to it previously will all be washed down the drain with the water. Water waste treatment plants do not break down all the ingredients in beauty products and some then make their way to marine environments. Some of these ingredients cannot break down in aquatic environments causing aquatic toxicity, harming marine life and the ecosystem balance," says Nausheen Qureshi, founder of bio-designed skincare brand Elequra. "On top of that, the sewage systems and filtration technology aren't always able to clean these toxins out, which leads them to accumulate in sewage system sludge.
