Happy Birthday, Monica Roberts May 4, 1962 — October 5, 2020 Today we celebrate and honor the incomparable Monica Roberts, our beloved Trans Griot, who used her voice to tell the stories so often erased. Monica fiercely advocated for Black trans women and the entire trans community through her groundbreaking blog, TransGriot, which became a vital source of truth, visibility, and justice. She made sure our lives were counted, our names were said right, and our stories were told by us — with love and power. At Sisters PGH, her legacy lives on through Monica Roberts Place, our supportive housing program for Black and Brown trans people facing housing insecurity.
