Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced on Thursday that she will retire from Congress after her term ends in early 2027. She spoke with Lesley Stahl in 2006 about her childhood with five older brothers in a strict Catholic family. Her father, Tommy D'Alesandro, was mayor of Baltimore. Pelosi said she learned the secrets of political organizing when she used to help keep track of favors owed her father during his 12 years as mayor.
