New Jersey Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill and Virginia Gov.-elect Abigail Spanberger were elected to Congress in the Democratic party’s 2018 midterm blue wave during President Donald Trump’s first term, and they lived together while serving in the House. The former roommates worked to make Trump an issue in their respective governor’s races this year, and it worked. Sherrill and Spanberger won virtually all of the nearly 40% of voters in their states who saw their votes as a way to oppose Trump.
