Oliver Milton Martin was a member of the Kanien'kehá:ka Nation from the Six Nations of the Grand River Reserve. He served in both the First and Second World Wars, earning multiple decorations and retired in October 1944, with the rank of Brigadier. In between the wars, he taught at Secord School and East York, and became the principal of Danforth Park School.
Tomorrow, Saturday, November 8, the City of Toronto will be holding a ceremony for Indigenous Veterans' Day in the Spirit Garden at City Hall between 10 am and 12:30 pm. Everyone is invited to participate.
