Republican lawmaker Bryan Posthumus has denied links to websites for extramarital hookups – having previously won an award for his “strong defence of family values”. An investigation by Detroit Metro Times found the Michigan lawmaker’s name, email and home address appear in records from three adult-sites where users can pursue extramarital affairs. An Ashley Madison account reportedly using his personal data was created nearly a decade before Posthumus was first elected to public office – and allegedly showed activity in 2012, back when he was still married to Stacy Posthumus, who later filed for divorce in 2014. Posthumus’ attorney sent a letter to the outlet, arguing the story is “categorically false,” accusing the outlet of trying to “weaponize unverified, anonymous data dumps,” and stating that “a disgruntled former employee” or political opponent may have set up the accounts.
