The boys’ varsity soccer team took on the Olathe East Hawks on Nov. 3 in the state quarterfinals. The Lancers started off the game with senior Stephen Hlobik scoring a goal in the first 15 minutes with an assist from junior Justin Jones. After multiple missed goal attempts, the second goal of the game was scored by senior Miles Gibson with an assist from Hlobik. The Lancers maintained their two-point lead until Hlobik scored the final goal of the game with three minutes remaining, putting the Lancers up 3-0. This win secured the Lancers’ spot in the semi-final game against Wichita Southeast in Wichita, and their record now stands at 15-3-1.
Updated Nov. 5, the boys varsity soccer team beat Wichita Southeast 5-3 to advance to the state championship for the second time in school history after a state championship victory last season.
