Honoring Deputy John Slobojan Today, November 7th, your Temple Station deputies wear their Class A uniforms and ties in remembrance of Deputy John Slobojan, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our community. On this day in 1964, Deputy Slobojan suffered a fatal heart attack during the pursuit of a juvenile robbery suspect in the city of El Monte. He and his partner had spotted the wanted juvenile on Maxson Street and attempted to make an arrest. The suspect fled on foot through several backyards, and during the pursuit, Deputy Slobojan collapsed. Despite his partner’s efforts to save him, Deputy Slobojan tragically passed away before reaching the hospital. Deputy Slobojan faithfully served the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for five years and was assigned to Temple Station. He is survived by his wife and three children.
