In honor of “107” day, this is always a fun one to revisit.
Something fun you may not know about this meet, is that I had only been back on 10 meter for maybe a week when this happened.
But it wasn’t “lucky,” and I’ll tell you why.
World Championships were early that year in March and we had a few national and international competitions directly following it. By the end of May I was wiped out.
So in preparation for the next year which was an Olympic year, we were spending a LOT of time on drills, basics and leadups in the months leading up to this meet.
I only got up on 10 meter the week before I competed because our goal wasn’t that competition. It was more of a barometer to see where my skills were at that point in time.
It wasn’t a normal training cycle, I wasn’t properly tapered, I hadn’t put in the numbers… but I had gone back to make sure my foundation was rock solid.
