I’ve been a licensed drone operator for about a year now. Here are 3 reasons you’ll never find me using one in nature (not to mention the fact that they are illegal in all national parks): 1) It disturbs wildlife. It can cause stress and negatively affect their behavioral patterns. Researchers may use drones for research purposes like population surveys, but that’s a different case. 2) It disturbs the peace. Drones are loud as hell. Finding a truly peaceful spot is already becoming more and more difficult these days. Don’t be that guy who pisses everyone off and ruins the vibe at the viewpoint. 3) It’s really not necessary. When you’ve made it to a peak or overlook after a long climb, you’re already at the scenic spot. You don’t always need to get higher to get a better photo.
