November 4th is Use Your Common Sense Day! This day reminds us to, literally, use our common sense. Common sense is defined as having good sense and sound judgment in practical matters. Of course, in thinking about common sense, we are reminded of Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense,” which was published during the American Revolution. Speaking of the American Revolution, there is a new 6 part documentary called “The American Revolution” by Ken Burns premiering on PBS on November 16th at 8pm! For today, Jared letterpress printed a phrase about common sense that was typeset in 72 point Caslon font. The print states, “Common sense isn’t very common anymore.” This was printed with red oil base ink using our Washington hand press. #UseYourCommonSenseDay #commonsense #typography #sachistorymuseum #sacramento #museum #printing #letterpress #printingpress #history #oldsacramento #printmaking
