October 4th is National Golf Lover’s Day! This day is observed on this day because on October 4, 1895, the first-ever U.S. Open Championship was held in Newport, Rhode Island. For today, Howard letterpress printed the only golf related cut that we have in our print shop exhibit at the Sacramento History Museum. This small cut, depicting a golfer about to swing his club, was made roughly 85 years ago and it is from the Bill Gaylord Collection.
