October 1st is National Black Dog Day! This day encourages the adoption of a dog of a darker shade of color as black dogs are less likely to be adopted for no other reason than their coloring. While we don’t have a dog to join us in the print shop, we turned to our collections instead. For today, Howard letterpress printed an image from a halftone, made about 125-135 years ago, of a dog. This cut is from the Lewis Winter Collection.
