STATE SEND OFF: The McCallum band had a field rehearsal tonight at Nelson Field, serving as their state send off. The band performed their entire show in front of supporters in preparation for the upcoming competition tomorrow in San Antonio. Senior Carlos Aldrete thought the performance went well, and is looking forward to the band's upcoming competition. “I thought it was great, although it was cold and windy, which messed us up a little bit, and It was a longer rehearsal than normal and we were all definitely tired at the end,” Aldrete said. “Despite the challenges, we had good sound and formations and it was a good preparation run for state.” As this is the first time since 2021 the band has made state, spirits within the band are very high according to Aldrete. “I am feeling pretty good about state because when it comes to competitions the band has the ability to flip a switch, which I really saw at our area finals, and we ended up placing very high,” Aldrete said. “We had a ...
