A part of my story I don’t talk about often:
My father, Sam Eugene Hicks, was a Vietnam veteran. 🇺🇸
Like so many who served, he came home with PTSD and battles no one could see. When I was 7 years old, those battles took him from me.
I didn’t understand it then… but as an adult, I’ve learned how deeply war affects families long after the uniforms come off. I carry his name, his strength, and his pain — but I also carry his legacy.
This is for every veteran fighting silent wars, and every child who grew up trying to make sense of a loss they were too young to understand.
