This segment from The Secrets of the Back to the Future Trilogy (1990) explores one of cinema’s most unforgettable inventions, the hoverboard from Back to the Future Part II. Produced by Universal Studios and Amblin Entertainment, this featurette reveals the movie magic that brought the futuristic skateboard to life on the Universal backlot. Filmed at Courthouse Square, the heart of Hill Valley, this sequence showcases how filmmakers transformed the familiar Universal Studios set into a vibrant, neon-colored version of the year 2015. Under the direction of Robert Zemeckis, the production team used a combination of wire rigs, hidden supports, green screen compositing, and stunt doubles to create the illusion that Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) could hover and glide across the town square.
