New identity unlocked: rooftop beekeepers!! 🐝🍯💛 It was our third wedding anniversary this past week, and to celebrate we decided to take a beekeeping class at a local Urban Farm called littlecityfarmla, about 10 minutes from us in central LA. They have a couple of beehives on their roof, cared for by a two-person team, Phoebe and Sophia, from hivetribebees It was such a great experience - every question that we had was met with Phoebe’s knowledge and expertise. Her nearly decade of experience working with and caring for hives all around the greater LA area was apparent - she would even gently move away the bees on each frame from the hive, as you can see in some of the video footage! Bees are at the heart of our food system, pollinating so many of the foods we eat. When our bees are struggling, plants are unable to reproduce effectively, resulting in smaller harvests and reduced biodiversity in our ecosystems.
