For “The Morning Garden”, our room kbshowhouse, I designed the space as a morning room and envisioned it to be a place you would want to linger long beyond breakfast. My goal was also to showcase the fact that traditional doesn’t have to equate stuffy, overly feminine, or formal. The room is fresh and light; comfortable and inviting; and dare I say, cool in the way it nods to the past while embracing more modern elements. Striking abstract art; a graceful, sculptural chandelier, and the tension and breathing room every room needs to feel balanced. As I’ve mentioned to a few people visiting the showhouse, how different would the room feel with an oil landscape in a heavy gilt frame hanging above the sofa in place of the amazing pink abstract by kerryhays_ which adds an incredible jolt of energy and visual tension to the room?
