Indigenous protesters wearing feathered headdresses and traditional attire stormed the COP30 climate summit in Belém, Brazil on November 11 to demand urgent climate action and protection of the Amazon rainforest. This comes after Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said at a leaders summit that COP30 would be “inspired by Indigenous peoples and traditional communities.” “We can’t eat money; we want our territory free. But the business of oil exploration, mineral exploration, and logging continues,” Cacique Gilson of the Tupinambá community said. “For us, It’s a moment of revolt, of indignation, it’s a moment when we Indigenous people feel the defeat of our territory in our skins.” #IndigenousResistance #Brazil #COP30 #HLOG
