Early Monday morning, four student protesters were arrested on felony vandalism charges in association with an art installation that opposed Turning Point USA, or TPUSA, whose UC Berkeley chapter hosted the final event of its college campus tour. The students’ arrest and subsequent jailing are a clear overreaction on the part of UCPD, dangerously criminalizing students’ right to protest. The Daily Californian reported that the students were arrested for attempting to hang a 5-foot-tall cardboard bug from Sather Gate and posting fliers displaying Charlie Kirk’s infamously offensive quotes. Demonstrators also wrote with chalk under the gate, “Trans rights! You can erase our chalk but you can’t erase us.” Read more through the link in bio. ✍️: The Editorial Board . . . #ucberkeley #dailycal #berkeley #turningpointusa #charliekirk #ucpd
