I am incredibly honoured to have been chosen as the inaugural Canadian Professional Rodeo Association Photographer of the Year. So many people have helped me get here, and I could not be more grateful to have been on this journey with them. All the calls, texts and DMs have been so lovely—I appreciate every single one. . . . . This marks my tenth year working full time in rodeo. I think an award like this will only help push the marketing and imaging of our sport forward. Thanks to Billie-Jean Duff, all rodeo photographers now have something to strive for. I didn’t come from a traditional rodeo background. I fell in love with the sport at the Calgary Stampede and the Airdrie Pro Rodeo. What’s amazed me is how welcoming the community has been. I hope my work ethic and “sport-first” attitude has shone through. Rodeo is powered by a massive volunteer base that can be overlooked. I owe a debt of gratitude to committees who’ve consistently trusted me to work in the arenas they built. From...
