Sam Schellenberg made his PBR Canada debut this past weekend in Elnora, Alberta, fighting bulls at the 25th Anniversary edition of the Elnora Brahma Rama. . . . . . . I first met Sam at the Bullhand Rodeo Academy bull riding and bullfighting school under the tutelage of Scott Byrne. Outgoing and excited to be making his foray into the rodeo world, we became fast friends. He has since worked in the BRC, cutting his teeth and gaining not only experience, but a reputation for putting his shit on the line for the boys. In an unfortunate incident not too long ago, he entered a freestyle bullfight at the Calgary Stampede grounds, he suffered a year ending knee injury and would be sidelined. That is just as much of a test of someone’s drive and resolve as any stage of making your way to the top of any sport, and Sam came out with flying colours.
