Cheyenne Jackson is opening up about his journey with what’s often called “gay voice.”
In a candid chat the ‘American Horror Story’ star posted to his Instagram, Jackson says he once listened to himself and thought, “Wow, I sound really gay.” Then he asked himself: “I am gay! What’s wrong with sounding gay?”
The actor and singer, starring on Broadway in ‘Oh, Mary!’, reflected on how early in his career he deliberately masked his voice to sound more “straight.” He now embraces his tone and style, calling himself “a moderate gay voice person” and owning the full spectrum of queer expression.
“But you know what? F*ck that. My internalized homophobia is done.” Jackson proclaimed at the end.
