Following changes made by the Organization Resource Group that removed the requirement for student organizations to include gender expression and identity in their requisite non-discrimination clause within their constitution, the Missouri Students Association has passed a bill expressing the opinion of the association as disappointed and concerned, condemning the policy alteration. Senate Bill 65-06 also directs the President of MSA to write letters to the Office of General Counsel as well as the Division of Student Affairs, requesting clarity as to why the changes were made while making the association’s opinion known. “When it comes to student clubs, we are not allowed to exclude people based on their identity, I feel like that’s a slippery slope,” said MSA Social Justice Committee Vice-Chair Justin Sills.
