One of the more pivotal plays during Saturday’s victory over Virginia Tech came when true freshman defensive end Mandrell Desir sacked Hokies quarterback Kyron Drones and forced the fumble (recovered by linebacker Blake Nichelson) to keep the lead at 17-7 in the third quarter when Virginia Tech was driving downfield. Desir has 21 tackles (six for loss) and five sacks so far during the 2025 season.
