Since day one, Edgar Quero has been willing to throw to any base at any time. On July 22 in Tampa, the rookie catcher recorded a 1.80-second pop time to throw out José Caballero at second base. He led the MLB this season with five catcher pickoffs, tying Bill Nahorodny (1978) for the most in White Sox history. Quero made is major-league debut on April 17 and crushed his first home run on July 4. Edgar Quero ranked second among major-league rookie catchers this season with a .268 average and third with 98 hits, 32 walks and a .333 on-base percentage.
