- A goal that I am seeing scored with regularity at the professional, collegiate, and junior levels is where goaltenders are overcommitting to their short side and allowing their momentum to carry past the shot release point. As players become increasingly skilled and the pace of the game has become much faster, it is paramount for goaltenders to understand their angle, how much they genuinely need to move, and the awareness of the hand of the shooter.
