The seed for
#Landman was planted during
#1883. After Billy Bob Thornton made a cameo on that
#Yellowstone prequel, Taylor Sheridan was inspired to create a series for him — and the role of oil fixer Tommy Norris was born.
For the second season, Sheridan reached out to Sam Elliott. A text turned into a phone call, which eventually led to a two-year contract for Elliott to join the series as Tommy’s father, T.L., marking a reunion for actors and friends Elliott and Thornton.
"There's a lot of pain to heal between the two characters and it’s going to happen over time," Elliot tells THR. "A lot of it happened in this season, but there’s still a lot of baggage to deal with. It's a lot of fun working with Billy. It’s very emotional for me," he adds.
