What if the same tools used to diagnose disease could one day help prevent it? That question drives Daniel K. Sodickson, MD, PhD, vice chair for research in radiology at NYU Langone Health. For more than 25 years, Dr. Sodickson has advanced imaging to be faster, better, and more insightful. His newest research combines powerful AI tools and wearable data to detect illness early enough to cure. “Why are we always using our best tools last rather than first?” he asks.
Through his “everywhere scanner” project, he envisions compact MRI systems that could exist in pharmacies, workplaces, or even homes, bringing imaging to people instead of the other way around.
This story is part of NYU Langone Health’s video series highlighting pioneering researchers whose discoveries and mindsets drive our lifesaving mission.
Watch how Dr. Sodickson and his team are making the invisible visible and transforming the future of everyday health screenings.
