Today marks 222 years since the Battle of Vertières (Batay Vètyè), which we honor and celebrate on November 18 as the final battle and victorious breakthrough of the Haitian Revolution. This victory made Haiti an independent nation, the first free Black republic, and a catalyst for freedom movements worldwide. And on November 18, 2025, history continues with Haiti’s national men’s team officially advancing on the road to the 2026 World Cup stage for the first time since 1974. Istwa nou vivan… Nou la.
