Native American Heritage Month Neilson Powless   Neilson Powless, born September 3, 1996, of the Oneida Nation, is an American professional cyclist and the first Native American to compete in the Tour de France, an event he’s competed in every year since 2020. His older sister Shayna Powless is also a professional cyclist. Neilson Powless turned professional in 2018, competing in his first grand tour at the 2019 Vuelta a Espana for the LottoNL-Jumbo team. In 2021, he won the Clásica de San Sebastián for EF Team, while also earning top 5 results at the 2021 UAE Tour (5th) and UCI World Championship (5th). Since 2022, his professional cycling career has been filled with top 5 finishes across many events, including winning the Japan Cup twice (2022 and 2024), the Grande Prix La Marseillaise (2023), the Gran Piemonte (2024), the Dwars door Vlaaderen (2025), and the GP Gippingen (2025).
