House Update! After speaking to many contractors and firing three of them, I came to the conclusion that we had to learn how to do this huge project ourselves! So with the knowledge of historic books and catalogs, oldhouseonline and YouTube we took this failing floor apart ourselves. The joys were rotted and hacked to hell by amateur plumbing and burst water pipes. I knew that if we faced this problem head-on we would be able to correctly diagnose the problem and heal the house. So we did! We gained the courage to rip down and rebuild a whole floor after being told that “it couldn’t be done!” Or “that will be $20K.” Or “cover it with LVP flooring.” 😒 Instead of contractors, we hired a good plumber and electrician. It was during this process that we had the small bedroom plumbed to be a large bathroom and turned the original bathroom into a laundry room.
