We’re proud to highlight Pitt County Schools’ Health Sciences Academy, a program which has been shaping the future of rural health care in eastern North Carolina for 20 years! “Nobody in my family is in health care,” said Jenna Hamed, now a fourth-year student at the Brody School of Medicine. “I kind of always knew I wanted to do something in health care, but I didn’t really have any way to connect with it, so that’s why I joined Health Sciences Academy.” On #RuralHealthDay, we honor programs like HSA that inspire young people to serve, lead and deliver compassionate care close to home.
