🚨 COP30 has ended without the breakthroughs the world urgently needed. No real progress on forests, no credible climate finance and no plan to keep the 1.5°C climate limit alive.⁣ ⁣ Needs for a fossil fuel phase out and an end to deforestation collapsed as governments refused to confront the industries driving the crisis. Fossil fuel and Big Ag lobbyists again worked to weaken ambition and block real progress. This outcome is a slap in the face to communities already living through deadly storms, typhoons, heat and floods.⁣ ⁣ There were bright spots. Indigenous land demarcations advanced and forest defenders made their voices heard in Belém. But the final text avoids naming fossil fuels, leaves the ambition gap wide open and offers no reliable finance for vulnerable nations.⁣ ⁣ The way forward is clear. Make polluters pay.
