Brazil just took a historic step by advancing the official recognition of 20 Indigenous Territories. This legal process secures Indigenous land rights and protects millions of hectares of forest, while honouring the Peoples who have defended these lands for generations. Protecting Indigenous territories is essential for keeping the 1.5°C limit alive.
Inside COP30, the picture is very different. More than 300 industrial agriculture lobbyists are present, alongside a record number of fossil fuel lobbyists. These are the industries driving Amazon deforestation and blocking the systemic changes the world urgently needs. Their influence grows while the voices of forest Peoples still struggle to be heard.
