A bullet… in his leg.” “How can the world be so cruel to animals?” These are the words we heard standing in our vet center this week 😭 In shock that the sweet cat in front of us had been shot. You see, Smokee had been in a local shelter for a few weeks with what they thought was a broken leg. He stole the hearts of everyone who snuggled him, held him while he slept, and whispered reassuring words to him. His pain was being managed while he waited for a rescue to say yes to taking on his medical treatment and surgery. We said yes and brought him to our vet center with a plan to consult an orthopedic surgeon. He literally fell asleep purring in the arms of our Vet Techs as he waited to be seen 🥹 Then, we saw the x-ray. The bullet still lodged in his leg. The bone shot through. We don’t know who did this… who would do something like this? We don’t know how long ago he was shot. We don’t know how much he suffered alone ...
