For this week's Throwback Thursday, we're looking back 20 years to Color War 2005. The themes were Aish (Fire) and Mayim (Water)…and things got a little too real. In an unforgettable twist, Team Aish went all-in and used smoke machines for their room presentation. The commitment was admirable — until the smoke set off the fire alarms right before Final Night, arguably one of the biggest nights of the year at DJDS. Cue: the fire department arriving in full gear, 300 people evacuated, and a very memorable pre-show “intermission.” Eventually the culprit (those pesky smoke machines) was identified, the all-clear was given, and Final Night went on as planned. Meanwhile, Team Mayim came prepared with actual fish in their room design — a bold move that became instant lore. To this day, Team Aish swears the judges held the fire alarm fiasco against them.
