Beginning Tuesday, users of TikTok will not be able to access the video-sharing social media app on any device connected to the university's Wi-Fi networks. UT initially announced its ban of the app on university-issued devices in an email sent to employees on Dec. 16, shortly after Gov. Greg Abbott's Dec. 7 directive that banned the app from state-issued devices. UT-Dallas and the University of North Texas are other Texas universities who have also banned the app from its networks.
