We drove up to see the wildfires that were ravaging around the Inkaneep and Nk'Mip Creep, near Osoyoos & Oliver, British Columbia. BC has experienced drought-like conditions for all of June and July 2021, with little recorded rainfall for almost two full months. This, mixed with extreme heat, has concocted conditions that prime for wildfire. As more and more fires grow across British Columbia, in particular in the Okanagan region, many residents began to wonder why resources weren't being allocated through the declaration of a State of Emergency by the Provincial government. Not long after, several more fires broke out over the weekend of July 16-18, 2021, including the Nk'Mip Creek wildfire on July 19, 2021. We heard about this fire just an hour or two after it erupted, and made the 400km+ drive to Osoyoos to see it for ourselves.
