Jeremiyah Love has been named a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, given to the nation’s best running back. The finalists are: Kewan Lacy (Ole Miss) Ahmad Hardy (Missouri) Jeremiyah Love (Notre Dame) Additionally, six of the last seven running backs to win the Heisman Trophy also won the Doak Walker Award. Love is notably in contention to win both awards. Since its inception in 1990, the following players have won both the Heisman and the Doak Walker: Rashaan Salaam ’94 (Colorado) Eddie George ’95 (Ohio State) Ricky Williams ’97 & ’98 (Texas)* Ron Dayne ’99 (Wisconsin) Reggie Bush ’05 (USC) Derrick Henry ’15 (Alabama) *Williams won the Heisman Trophy in 1998 Love would be the first Notre Dame player to win the Doak Walker Award and the eighth Irish player to win the Heisman Trophy. An Irish player has not won the Heisman since Tim Brown in 1987, and a running back has not won it for Notre Dame since Paul Hornung in 1956. #HEISM4N 📸: Clutch Points
