It’s #StormSurvivorSunday, and we are at yet another stunning home on the island that was originally built as a rental and boarding house. The number of elaborate Victorian mansions intentionally built as rentals demonstrates that getting a beach house on Galveston Island was just as popular at the turn of the century as it is now! Built by Jens Moller Sr. in 1897, the elaborate woodwork and corner turret contribute to the home’s grandeur. Soon after it was built, the Wakelee family moved in and continued to operate a boarding house, hosting many events, weddings, funerals, and I am sure, Thanksgivings within these walls. Can you imagine the home decorated for Thanksgiving 125 years ago?!
