In fact, the pie we know today wasn’t even invented here in America, it came from England in the 1700’s. Early American colonists learned how to make pumpkin pie from the Native Americans who used the pumpkin not as the filling, but also as the crust. 🐍 Early American folk medicine taught that pumpkin flesh could be used to remove freckles and treat snake bites.
